Emergency Care
A knocked-out tooth or bitten tongue can cause panic in any parent, but quick thinking and staying calm are the best ways to approach such common dental emergencies and prevent additional unnecessary damage and costly dental restoration. This includes taking measures such as application of cold compresses to reduce swelling, and of course, contacting our office as soon as possible.
If you have a life-threatening or severe injury, call 911 or go directly to the nearest hospital emergency room. We can treat a variety of traumatic dental injuries, including teeth that have been chipped, moved, or knocked out entirely. Please call our office for assistance.
We will make every effort to schedule you the same day for any dental emergency if you are a patient of record.
If a true dental emergency occurs after regular office hours, please call the office at (336) 768-3314 and listen to the recorded message. If Dr. Michel is out of town; he will usually have another local dentist covering for him. You may be seen by the covering local dentist on the rare occasion Dr. Michel is not available. He or she will report back to Dr. Michel and someone from our office will contact you to follow up regarding your treatment if needed. Any additional information will be on the prerecorded message on our answering machine. Thank you!
